Upon admission to the program, a complete one-on-one assessment process begins. The assessments includes: Psychological Evaluation, Nutritional Assessment, and Exercise Assessment. From these evaluations, an individualized treatment plan is developed, which sets the path for the specific direction of the treatment.

Initial Evaluation
Admission to the Capo Eating Disorder by the Sea Treatment Program requires an initial assessment to determine if this form of treatment is most appropriate. The initial assessment focuses on psychological, social and medical factors that may have contributed to the development and maintenance of the eating disorder. We recognize the role of family and provide optimal family support and involvement during treatment. During this evaluation, a full description of the program as well as specifications of the goals of treatment are discussed.

Medical Evaluation
Program participants are required to see their personal physician or our staff physician to evaluate general health status and physical complications. Participants need to bring all lab results and obtain a release of information from their physician to better care for the participants while at PathWeighs Homes. Drug therapies are also available if required.

Nutritional Counseling
Nutritional education is aimed at helping program participants develop healthy eating patterns. Participants work closely with staff to determine appropriate nutritional needs, explore nutritional myths and facts, plan meals in advance in a way that helps makes normal eating more attainable, keep appropriate food journals, learn to shop for and prepare food. Food and eating are very sensitive topics for those with eating disorders and every attempt is made to fully inform program participants of all aspects of meal planning.

Structured Eating
Meal planning and structured eating experiences are key aspects of this program and are designed to reduce guilt at mealtime. The program includes three cooked meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) with the focus being on developing healthy, nutritious and appropriate eating patterns.
